Before start removing the AMPs, carried out quick check and confirmed that all of the AMPs/speakers were still operating.
Started to remove the speaker boxes at the left door and at the passenger foot well area.
At the left door, one of the triangle interior trim at the top forward section was already damaged and actually glued into the fixing point.
Unfortunately, the damage is too much and as it needs some flexibility, it is not ideal to use the plastic repair kit to re-create the missing parts.
I’ll probably use liquid gasket to position it back in place.
Surprisingly, there was no damage to the door panel fixing tab and very clean installation.
The door speaker box was also not damaged at all so good news.
When I started removing the passenger floor carpet, immediately, I noticed that the metal panel as well as the bass speaker box were not installed properly.
They were just placed there without being fixed.
And I found the reason.
Someone placed the fixing screws/spacers in the wrong position.
The stud bolt with the spacer that is located at the left side of this photo should be at the right side instead.
Because of this, the angle of the bass speaker box was wrong and thus, none of the parts around there could be secured to the chassis properly.
Will be fixed properly during the re-installation process.
By the way, as a side note, the EPS controller is the 023 version that may trigger EPS error code #22 during the ownership.
I could have upgraded the internal power relays to prevent this from happening but unfortunately, I didn’t have any parts in stock and they are US stocked parts so please plan it for the future service.
Will be servicing these two AMPs first and then move on to the right side door as I don’t want to drive the car without the door panel on the way to the alignment platform.
More to follow.
