Test driving session, ABS, interior noise

Rate this Entry

As the road surface was damp but no water paddle, it was good for the ABS test with stuck closed solenoids.

Set the A/C at 32degC to make sure to push out any bubbles left inside the heater core after the TB/WP service and went out for the test driving session.

Before going out on the main road, activated the ABS many times while the tyre was still cold.

Sometimes, I got the kick back but as three out of the four solenoids were stuck closed, most of the times, the tyre just slipped without any kick back at the pedal even the ABS was activating the solenoids.

Obviously, there was no ABS warning light because electronically, the solenoids were working and just not moving.

Will try this several times before trying to flush the solenoids again.

On to the main road and investigated the interior noise as well.

Most of the noise was coming from the defrost duct panel where the bottom of the windshield meets the interior trim.

As reported at the beginning of the service, this was caused by the poor installation carried out by the people who replaced the windshield for the owner long time ago.

There were some rattle from the rear section of the ceiling panel.

On going through the speed bump, some squeaking noise was observed from the A and B pillar interior trims.

Probably don’t need to take out the entire dashboard out of the cabin but definitely need to shift it far enough to access the defrost duct panel as the fixing screws are under there so will be dropping the steering column down, ceiling panel off, A & B-pillar off, etc.

Big task but I hope I can return this NSX at the end of this month.

Visiting alignment platform tomorrow and depending on the time, I may meet with the people from Norton Way Honda.

They have cut the Monel main and spare blank keys for the owner and they have kindly offered to deliver them together with other items to my place so that they can make final adjustment to the keys using the actual key cyl.

Time is running out for the Silverstone Classic….

At least, I would like to wash my NSX…..
