As seen on many UK based NSX, the drive shaft grease was already broken down and turned into ‘melted coffee ice cream’ resulting in lack of lubrication under heavy load.
On this NSX, the ride height, suspension setup and the tyre/wheel combo are still within the OEM spec so it didn’t put excessive load on the drive shaft but when you change anything on the chassis setup, you must consider the overhaul interval for the drive shaft.
In the process of roller overhaul.
There are 12 of them in total for R & L drive shaft overhaul process.
Most of the rollers showed sign of minor damage and one of them actually had pitted marking.
Another reason on why you must overhaul the drive shaft at a certain interval because this is one of the weakest point on our NSX.
Planting lots of pin bearing for one of the roller.
Time consuming and tiring process.
Three down, nine to go…..
