The false [ BRAKE LAMP ] warning tends to be triggered first thing in the morning when the cabin temperature is low and also at high humidity in the air.

When you open the gauge cluster, try creating the similar condition.

I was able to re-create the same phenomenon on the bench.








The dust seal is already hardened and cracking.

No point in re-using.

In fact, removed from the later spec.














As expected, lots and lots of capacitor leakage.

Looked better than other gauge clusters but on this one, the contaminated area was just so wide that spent ages cleaning the board....

One of the major concern was the contamination under this connector.

Didn't want removing the connector and after some inspection and research, found a way to wash it off.












Started the repair tasks.


Another gauge with excessive heat.

Fortunately, the warning indicator HIC didn't trigger any fire.

In Japan, more and more gauges were ending up with small fire requiring the replacement HIC.








Removed the deteriorated EPT sealer…..








Washing up time.
