Autowit SuperCap 2 - Ultracapacitor jump starter 03

Rate this Entry

A few months ago, tried taking a video clip showing what happens when the battery was drained too far.

It would trigger the low voltage warning on the display of this device but by doing so many things in parallel, I just ran out of my spare time.

Will try again when I have bit more time.

Followings are some of the things I carried out.

With the bench power supply set at 12.5V in current control mode, started the charging process.

Quickly charged up within a few minutes and ready for the jump starting.

With the ultracapacitor, it's even more important to charge each capacitor evenly than dealing with multiple battery cells so the control circuit must be designed accordingly.

Looks like this manufacture did good job on this point.

As always, interested in the build quality.

Just wanted to check the internal of the cigarette loom.

Didn't like how it was assembled so made small modification.

Tested the battery clamp cable using the small battery.

Again, it charges up so quickly that by the time I tried holding the camera, the ultracap was almost ready.

This shows that there is no need pre-charging this device, unlike the battery pack.

In fact, there is no point as the ultracap starts discharging itself fairly quickly once the charging stage is done.

From what I saw, after about a few days, the ultracap was discharged and at its default status.

Hope I can take some video clips in the future but for now, I'll be carrying this device together with my old Li-ion pack so that I can support someone in the future.
