Time to re-gas the weak gas strut/damper.
Once again, SGS Engineering to the rescue.
Since last time I used the service, the regulation around the mail delivery got much strict that I was bit worried about sending these gas struts to them using the Special Delivery service.
SGS told me they never had problem and the feedback from another owner through FB group was the same so decided to go ahead.
However, had quite big headache with the removal of one of the boot lid ball stud.
It just didn't want moving and couldn't use the socket without first separating the strut end from the stud.
Although done it in the past off the car, never tried separating them without first removing from the car so quite a big challenge.
After lots of masking tape, image simulation inside the brain and two dental picks, finally manged to pull out the C-ring from the strut end.
With the strong Snap-on 6-point socket, it finally started moving.
Quite surprised it was not the thread that was contaminated but in fact, caused by the oxidation at the base of the stud and the washer.
As I had so many things to do on this NSX, not urgent to have these struts back but SGS finished the task with fairly quick turnaround time considering the pandemic situation.
Thank you for the great service, SGS Engineering.
