Just done the MOT.
I used to take it in summer but the expiry date was extended for 6 months so for the first time, taking it in winter.
Just before visiting the MOT station, I normally just cruise on the dual carriageway for about 20min
mainly using the 4th gear (mine is 5MT) and on arrival, keep running the engine at idle rpm and immediately take the emission test.
Never failed even with the original CATs that are now into 27th year with over 164K miles.
Not sure it's due to freezing cold outside temperature cooling down the CAT rapidly or the aged fuel but for the first time, the tester had to repeat the same test as the first attempt failed on the Lambda.
The display would tell the tester to hold the rpm at higher rpm band for a certain period and then try the 2nd attempt.
The tester told me that on that occasion, it was easily within the window and passed.
Since the last Eng Refresh, 9 years past and I'm aware of the oil seepage around the rear bank black seal disc.
The usual place.
At some point in autumn - winter time, hope I can find some time working on my NSX as I would like to replace the valve stem seal as well.
Not sure what to do with the cyl head valve seat treatment yet.
I'll do all of the coolant hoses and hose bands as well.
Finally, I can replace the sender unit for the temperature gauge.
Already knew that my CL is at its end of the life and must replace the suspension damper at some point.....
Looks like lots to do this year.....
Another lockdown but spent really busy first 7 days of the new year.
Hope everyone is doing fine.
