Cooling Sys, Health Check, etc 20

Time for the vacuum leak check followed by the vacuum fill.

While waiting for the leak check, carried out the 2nd pressure bleeding.

Forgot to take the photo though so just the result……

And vacuum fill of the Type 2 coolant.

With Koyo radiator, you will need extra amount as the core is thicker than the OEM.

For some reason, bit struggled to install the oil filter.

It was touching one of the bolt at the oil pump.

Not sure it's the filter body or the bolt replaced in the past but lots of scratch marking at the edge of the filter.

Couldn't take good photo but you may be able to see special grease (high temperature spec) applied around the entire top/side section of the oil cooler.

Extra old oil sucked out from the top.

About 300 - 400cc recovered by the suction pump.

Also, since the oil cooler was replaced, you'll need extra amount of fresh oil.

Because the Eng was not started for weeks, it's my standard procedure to remove the spark plugs and hand crank it many-many times before using the starter to circulate the Eng oil to get initial oil pressure.

And quick fire up to push any air pockets in the cooling system although with the vacuum level achieved this time, probably not much.

After initial bleeding, proper fire up until the radiator fan kicks in.
