Annual Service, Cooling Sys, CL Hyd Sys, etc 01

Started working on another NSX (and it's yellow one again) from last week.

Quite often, I'm either working on the same colour NSX or same service menu from the previous week….

Even shows up in my dream…..

And as same as the other owner who just collected his NSX from my place, this owner also travelled long-long distance to bring his NSX to me.

The service menu is to carry out annual service with compression check, cooling sys refresh and the CL Hyd sys, etc.

By the time the car arrived at my place, it got very dirty so I wanted to test drive the car and wash it first before start removing the parts.

However, at the very beginning of last week, it was so wet that even I was getting used to washing the car in the rain, I just couldn't do it.

Managed to wash the car later but the road surface was still wet so no test driving session until the end of the service then.

OEM fuel filter installed. Apology for the poor focus.....

While the fuel came out from the old filter was not so dirty like other NSX, there were fairly large (a few mm) debris observed.

It shows that the filter was performing well but very unusual to see this size of debris so just wanted to highlight it here.

It's later spec LEV NSX so lots of extra pipes/tubes/components for the secondary air system, canister, etc so not much space available around the eng bay.

On arrival, noticed trace of old coolant spillage under the header tank but as far as I could see, there were no cracks at the tank.

Also, the grey front cross beam was dry with no sign of coolant so very old spillage.

The leakage looked to be from the overflow tube but the coolant level was spot on and considering the hours of driving in order to get the car to here,
there was no way the owner could top up the coolant on the way without waiting for ages to cool down the engine before opening the cap.

It is possible that someone topped up the coolant in the past without using the funnel and poured it directly from the bottle without covering the overflow neck entrance.

As a precaution, checked the air at the heater core bleeder and not a single bubble came out so happy with my observation and not doing the eng block test.

The tiny bubble at the beginning of the stream in the above photo was when I opened the bleeder further after attaching the tube.

By the way, although the car was serviced at the Honda garage, the colour of the coolant was green….

Probably using the Castrol coolant and not the Type 2.

Quite common at Honda garages in UK.

I must flush it well.

Quite dirty TH body.

As we are going to replace all coolant hoses, I'll just remove it and wash it thoroughly as it's much easier when the coolant is drained and coolant hoses at the TH body removed.

The spark plugs were replaced in the past and very tiny corona marking with no sign of corrosion so going to re-use all of them.

Some of them looked bit wet (cold engine) so condensation is happening inside the engine while the car was parked.

    Hi,
very interesting aluminum cover(Photo #4). I tried to solve this problem by installing a gasket - unfortunately ineffective. Because the cover is made professionally it can be bought?
