Started to remove the parts around the engine in preparation for the compression check.

Again, as I don’t know what kind of torque and treatment were carried out on the spark plugs, decided to remove them while the engine is cold.

I was expecting all of the spark plugs being replaced and although the centre tip looked fine, I didn’t like the amount of corrosion at the insulator body.

Quite surprised with the amount of corrosion even for the ones at the front bank.

Looked to be never replaced or replaced long-long time ago.

I’m afraid I can’t return this NSX with this level of corroded spark plugs so all of them are going to be replaced with the new one.

Thank you to the people at Camskill (www.camskill.co.uk).

Placed an order and the spark plugs are dispatched on the same day.

As seen on many NSX, the IGN Coils at the front bank were fine but the ones at the rear bank were very rusty.

Especially, the ones at #1 and #3 cyl were heavily corroded.

This NSX is from the early model so using the 2pin style coil.

From US, we can get a set of 6 x spark plugs plus 6 x 3pin spec IGN Coils at very good price but not for the 2pin style coil.

Last year, when I drove this NSX, the idle rpm was bit unstable but not misfiring.

I think it was caused by the dirty TH butterfly and EACV described later.

Therefore, at this stage, I’m going to re-use these coils but if any misfire happens in the future, first thing to try is to replace these coils at the rear bank.

As mentioned above, when I looked at the TH butterfly, I was quite surprised with the amount of black gunk in there….

Looked like it was never cleaned in the past….

It’s going to be fun cleaning this….
