So much oil seepage at the back of TB cover plate….
Going to have fun cleaning all these oil and also removing the melted potting from the CYL/CRK sensor.
Will start removing the rocker arms from Monday.
Although Honda Type 2 coolant is good for 5 years, I always recommend replacing it at earlier stage based on what I saw on my engine as well as any others.
Even within the maintenance interval, already lots and lots of corrosion/rust was observed at the WP.
I would say max 4 years interval.
Having said this, some of the WP showed no sign of corrosion at all so it's probably something to do with the stability of Type 2 coolant in each countries.
I myself found some of the Type 2 coolant in UK showing crystallization/debris even when it was new.
Please replace WP at the time of every TB service. You can't inspect it without removing it.
You can't check the state of the bearing without first removing the TB as well.
It's also designed to trap any debris within the coolant to be trapped at these places (yellow arrow) and you can't clean them without removing the WP first.
By the way, someone installed this WP with missing one of the dowel pin (blue arrow).
Didn't cause any issues but not ideal.
Will install new one later.
Will start removing the rocker arms and cleaning them from tomorrow.
Time to rest as it was really long weekend.....
