A/C CCU Board service 01

Rate this Entry

Have been very busy but managed to service another CCU board for the Honda garage and just sent it back.
It was another typical failure mode of fan only operates when it was set at the max speed setting.

The circuit board material was the light green spec with mixture of black and brown caps so it's the late '90s to early 2000s generation.

I serviced many boards from the same generation but this one was quite unique for the level of damages caused.

Another reason why it's best carrying out the preventative measure than waiting for the issue to show up.

Couldn't take better photo but C11 exploded (you can see the splashed particle at the background) and the remaining lead was almost creating short circuit below the cap body.

Some of the leads were already dissolved and detached from the cap.

Many tracks and pads were completely dissolved and gone.

If you look closely, you can see the fair amount of leaked acid still on the circuit board at C19.
Very interesting to see this level of leakage here before major damages at C22 and C24.
C19 is normally the last one to start leaking.

Started the repairing work.
