Eng Refresh + LMA, etc 01

Rate this Entry

Started to service another NSX from last week.
The service menu is to carry out Eng Refresh + LMA, Health Check, etc.

I'm already in the process of taking the eng out (once again, going to have fun dealing with the completely corroded CAT stud bolt and nut….)
so normally, by now, I would have updated the blog.
However, this NSX is one of those that I have never serviced before so wanted to go through the entire car thoroughly
before spending the time on the blog in case I need extra parts.

And indeed, already agreed with the owner on the urgent extra service items so had to place parts order to Japan immediately.

As part of the Health Check, went through the interview to understand the owner's driving style and environment.

After this, normally I would carry out the general check-up and then go out for the initial test driving session but
after looking at the age of the tyre, decided to carry out the Health Check first before driving it.

Typical early model rust around the head light retra housing.
I think Honda changed it on the later model.

Even after the owner driven hours to get to my place, the top surface of the battery was still wet.
It's not washer fluid or coolant so I have a feeling that the battery was over-charged or handled incorrectly in the past.

By the way, I may need replacing this GND cable.
The cramp is already damaged and with all these extra wires, corrosion, etc, not in good shape…..

While preparing for the eng removal, washed the battery and the case, checked the fluid level and connected it to the battery conditioner for testing.

No abnormal bubbling or hot heat spot and passed all the testing so for now, I'm going to re-use it.
The owner got this battery from another car or equipment and doesn't know the age of it so
he is already planning to replace it to be on the safe side.

The owner told me that every now and then, he got the ABS pump triggered when start driving but not long enough to trigger the ABS warning light.

Already the fluid level is above the max line and when looked from bottom side, you can clearly tell that the ABS fluid overflowed in the past.
In fact, it was still wet.
I think extra ABS flush is required on this NSX as the air is probably went into the ABS piston side and not just the accumulator.

Based on the previous service history, I must replace this fuel filter this time.
I'm still waiting for the manufacturing plan of the OEM filter new batch since last May so nearly 1 year now….
Have to use Mahle filter instead.
