It was very cold recently that I was not happy with the metal temperature despite the usage of the oil heater that
decided not to carry out the valve clearance adjustment until this weekend.

In the meantime, decided to finish other items.

The EPS controller.

As reported earlier, the previous owner paid for the replacement controller because it failed and triggered EPS warning light.
Both the failed and the replacement units are the ver. -305.

I think when this NSX left the factory, it had -023 so at least the controller was replaced twice by now.

I feel sad for the previous owners….
It’s the circuit design that caused the failure and even with the replacement unit, sooner or later, it will fail again.
The power relay capacity is not big enough under certain conditions and it will eventually burn out the relay contacts.

So far, ver. -023, -033, -305, -043, all of them showed relay issues. -053 seemed to be fine but haven’t opened it yet.

The owner has 2 x -305 controllers.
Based on the serial no., I’m going to upgrade the relay to the high current capacity spec on the newest unit and service the other one later.

Polished the IG coil cover to this level and installed the new gasket.
Will install it on the engine with silicone grease applied.

Ideally, you want some sort of protection against the water pouring over the rear valve cover by installing Jonathan’s nice rain gutter.
I have been testing just a simple method on my NSX for about 6 months now and not perfect but good enough against the rain so
may do the same on this NSX.

I protect the rear valve cover when washing the car so not a problem for water entering the bay during that time.

Nice and clean valve cover with new gasket installed. Before/after.

Please don’t use too much liquid gasket for keeping the new rubber gaskets in place.
If degreased properly, you don’t need it.
