Audio Head Unit and A/C CCU board service

One down, two more to go…..
One of them is in really serious condition and not sure I can repair it…..
If you want to keep your cabin with OEM look, please don't delay the service.

I won't carry out the service if the cost is going to be too much as
you are better off spending the money on another used unit and have it refurbished or
invest in the aftermarket ICE.

Two CCU boards to be serviced today and tomorrow before another NSX shows up for emergency service…..
Again, please do not wait until you experience the a/c issue.....
It's aluminium electrolytic capacitor so it has limited life cycle and sooner or later, 100% guaranteed to leak.

I must mower the lawn before it gets too cold….

what do you think: replace aluminium electrolytic capacitor- -tantal capacitor ( for the future without the risk of leakage)

If you are doing DIY and you can find the suitable spec ones including the leakage current, etc at reasonable price, go for it.
It's your NSX so even if you made mistake, you will learn something new.
I'm still learning everyday about our NSX....

Unfortunately, I prefer using the ones tested on my NSX if I’m going to support other owners so I'll stick with what I know it works.
In fact, the ones on my CCU was refurbished years ago so they had much lower endurance spec than the ones I use for other owners.
I already knew at least one owner using polymer or tantal caps on his electrical components and seemed to be happy with the result.

Already serviced more than 100 CCU boards in Japan and UK and some of them are more than 10 years old but none of them came back for another service.

As I use my NSX for testing the CCU for other owners, I regularly check the status of my CCU board with lower spec capacitors and they are still fine even after more than 10years.
My NSX is driven every day throughout the year in dry, wet, hot, cold and even on snow so exposed to hot environment, high vibration as well as under thermal shock regularly so good way of long term testing.

And these are the same story for the audio head unit service as well but for Bose AMP, Alpine head unit and Gauge circuit board, you need to be aware of the specific requirement for some of the caps as they may affect the EQ, signal level, calibration, etc.
