Preparation for the compression check.

Always recommend taking the compression once a year.

I have been doing this on my NSX for the last 22 years and even after 152K miles, still very strong data.

Knowing how the piston design was changed due to sudden decision to change the Eng spec just less than 1 year to go
before start of the production, NSX engine shall be really strong.









The Front bank IG coils.

Spring was bit tired but quite normal.

Interesting corrosion marking on the top rubber but this is the front bank that won’t see moisture so often......










The Rear bank ones.

As seen on many NSX including mine, some corrosion observed.

On this NSX, the one at #1 cyl is quite severe and lifting the metal core.

No misfire at this stage so just keep eye on this.







The spark plugs.

First of all, they were really loose.
Almost no torque.




You don’t want overtightening them on aluminium block but still, loose plug is far worse than bit too tight one.
Fortunately, the owner didn’t drive a lot after the plugs were replaced so no serious damages were done.










So much oil and debris trapped around the threaded section.
Very little corona arching markings and the metal body is still like shiny silver so
the plugs didn’t cover much mileage after being replaced.

The terminals looked to be burning fine but on bit cold side.
Would love to see next year once everything torqued to the spec.







Despite no rust marking around the IG coil tube, all six showed interesting brown marking around the upper section of the insulator body.





Will remove the oil and re-install them in preparation for warming up the engine before compression check.
