A/C CCU Board/Emergency Gauge service 05

And the moment of truth using my NSX.
The bulb check mode.
Please note that as I have disabled TCS, it won’t show up but already tested on the bench.

Then, opened the door, eng hatch glass, boot one at a time to check each indicators.

Of course, no more BRAKE LAMP warning light.

At this engine speed (NE pulse so in Hz), the rpm gauge was showing about 80 – 100rpm higher figure.

However, as I can’t test in the cold winter wet condition, decided to leave it as it is.
At 8,000rpm, I would imagine the offset would be around 200 - 300rpm but
didn’t want to run my engine in neutral with no load at such high rpm so no testing done.

Went out for test driving session against GPS speed using the cruise control.
Not sure of the satellite position today but felt as if the GPS speed was moving more randomly than the other day
despite using the cruise control on the same test course.

The original speedo was in kph so checked it against GPS in kph unit.

Upto 40kph, the speedo was spot on against the GPS.
At 50kph, the speedo indicated just above 50kph so safer option.
At 110kph, the speedo was at about 114 – 115kph.

As mentioned above, as I can’t test thermal shock condition or cold winter wet weather,
decided to leave it as it is to be on the safe side.

The car manufactures always set the gauge to show bit higher figure than the real speed so
I think this is the safest thing to do without the proper bench system.

So, the gauge is ready to be returned to the owner.

Please pay extra attention when taking the gauge out of its package as
there are 5 cap/cover used at the front face.

I taped them using 3M blue masking tape to minimise the adhesive residue in this hot weather but
they are easy to fell off so be careful when installing the gauge back in the cabin.

Please note that the two blue tape at the back of the gauge unit are for the cover of re-calibration VR so
please do not remove them.

Thank you for using my services and I’ll work on your CCU circuit board later as I would like to
finish the initial inspection of the NSX that I just started working on and
it’s another one that I have never serviced before…..

Already found several issues…..

Another delay…..

Regards,
Kaz

    Message to the owner;

Please note that the fuel gauge requires minimum of 5min after powered up before showing the correct figure.
On receiving the gauge, it will be still showing the fuel level of my NSX and not yours.

If you visit your photo album, you can see where the fuel gauge was when you sent the gauge to me.
It was about 1 indicator below full so fair amount of fuel left in your tank at that time.

Once re-installed, please leave the gauge powered up (or fireup the engine if you can) for more than 5min before reading the fuel level.
