A/C CCU Board/Emergency Gauge service 01

Rate this Entry

Quite often, multiple owners contacted me at similar timing with exactly the same reason especially if it was of urgent needs.

I just returned one NSX for emergency gauge service due to ‘BRAKE LAMP’ warning light issue that could lead to small fire inside the cabin.

Even before start working on this NSX, another owner contacted me with permanent ‘BRAKE LAMP’ warning light.
He knew how to test the gauge for this specific failure mode and despite the fact that he disabled the bulb failure detection sensor,
he still got the warning light so he decided to send in the gauge unit together with the A/C CCU board.

He already sent some photos of his CCU board prior to this so I already knew how bad his board was so will update the blog later.

I already knew the gauge was touched by someone in the past so no surprise some of the parts were damaged, missing or wrong ones being used.

The owner already told me that the speedo was converted to MPH using external device.
It was missing some of the rubber/felt wool covers.
One of the screw holding the clear lens was of wrong spec.

With the age and heat, some of the plastic parts are so fragile.
Even with great care, I can only apologise to the owner that I broke this plastic tab on the outer gauge case.
I hope I can repair it..... Sorry....

This tab is used for holding the odo meter and it was already partially broken when I opened the gauge.

Not easy to see in this photo but the clear lens was covered in dark black dust, finger print, etc so has to be washed….

Same dust on the trip and odo meters. Will clean them later.

Lots of washing required….

I already knew the gauge was in serious condition.
The leaked acid from multiple capacitors was already reaching the speedo fixing screw area.
