My 9 years old coolant header tank.

I already removed the eng bay cover so Type-R jacket is a MUST item.
Still, you can see the effect of the UV ray as the jacket only covers the upper half.

No split or seepage of coolant even after years of usage so I can keep using this one but due to the heat,
even the upper half changed its colour and no longer be able to check the coolant level
without the support of LED light from the back especially when you have the Type-R jacket in place.
So, decided to replace it with a new OEM one.

As always, 303 protection applied.

I don’t know the latest price but you don’t want to know how much it will cost for the Type-R jacket….

As I use exactly the same test driving course,
I can spot the difference between the owner’s NSX and mine fairly easily.

One thing I noticed was that my eng took bit longer distance to reach the fully warmed up condition even in this warm weather.
The gauge will eventually reach the normal position so I don’t think it’s the gauge or sender unit issue and
just the usual thermostat stuck open.
So, decided to replace the thermostat on this occasion.

Only 4.5 years old and it was not stuck open but replaced it so will see how the new one goes.

I really need to do something with my obsession in cleaning the parts……

All of the foam material at the vent door/flap took set and no longer making good tight seal so going to replace them.

I could buy EPDM thin sheet and use some sort of adhesive to cover the wider area but don’t have any long endurance adhesive
so have to use multiple narrower EPDM tape….

It will be used in hot environment so I hope they won’t come off over the time….

Unless you are doing DIY, it’s cheaper to replace the whole assy than asking someone to do this level of services.

That’s why many owners in Japan are simply replacing the whole heater assy if they have problem with their evaporator or the heater core.
Not only you will get the new evaporator and the heater core, but also it will come with new vent/flap motors, sensors, flap, etc.

Though, quite often, the heater unit is on long back order….

Fortunately, my heater core is still healthy.

No seepage of coolant and it’s the brass version so I hope I can keep using it.
You can no longer get the brass one and the replacement will be in aluminium.
Depending on the year model, the replacement aluminium core may not fit in your existing heater unit
if you have brass heater core from the factory..... Scary….

The air mix door driven by the air mix motor.

Keep cleaning and removing the old foam......
