As reported in Feb/13, my defrost panel started getting noisy due to hairline crack especially in the winter.

While the dashboard is removed, had a good look at it.

What a shame.
Just a tiny crack and didn’t get any worse after more than 3.5 years.

I bought the new defrost panel long time ago as one day, I wanted to replace it as the noise was just so annoying while driving.

Quite surprised such a small crack can cause that amount of noise.

Anyway, I think I'll try repairing this by applying shock resistance glue from the back and then melt the plastic for added strength
so that I can keep it as an emergency spare as some of the parts are on long back order these days.

My original R134a compressor.

Thank you for serving more than 22 years with over 152K miles and still going strong.
There was no problem with it but as I am replacing the evaporator,
I thought it would be a good idea to replace the compressor at the same time due to unknown state of old oil.

Surprisingly, even there was no refrigerant left keeping the positive pressure to prevent any moisture, debris to enter the system,
as I disabled the compressor well in advance that the colour of the old oil was still clear with
green dye and no metal flakes what-so-ever.

To be on the safe side, I think I will just drain the old oil, add fresh ND-OIL8, hand crank and
seal it for spare purpose.

I wanted to replace the pulley/CL with later spec one in order to shift the new compressor away from the header but
in order to replace the mounting bracket,
I must remove the header first.

One thing I don’t have at the moment is the time so I’m just going to re-use these.

CL friction material looked to be still there so for a few years,
I hope it can survive until I take my eng out again for the Eng Refresh.

I need to give really good clean of these hoses as they are covered in chassis black undercoating.

By the way, if done properly, your eng should be free from oil seepage
even after more than 4.5years of everyday driving after carrying out the TB/WP Eng Refresh.
