Cooling Sys, Health Check, etc 09

Not much to report while dealing with the coolant hoses.
Carefully draining the coolant from the eng block without letting the coolant touching the exh pipes although there are so much oil in the area that it's making my arm really dirty.....

As mentioned many times, you just remove the old hose, inspect it, clean the metal pipe, install the new hose and repeat this 25 times.

It's AT model so extra hoses for the AT cooler.

Just really time consuming task and even after doing this 100+ times, the floor will get bit dump so have to replace the cardboard regularly to keep the moisture out of the garage.....

And while dealing with the coolant hoses, the big daddy drive shaft hub puller arrived.
Because of the angle of the photo, you may not get the actual size but it’s huge and heavy!!

It’s originally designed for HGV so I had to use adaptor plate to be able to use this on the passenger car class PCD.

It’s rated at 20ton and I can believe it.

The driveshaft spindle was seized inside the hub as it was never removed for such a long time and even with the acetone/ATF mixture, it felt as if it will never separate….

And after applying so much pressure, I thought even this tool will break but then, all of a sudden, it separated.

Still, it was very heavy to push the spline so had to push in a bit, apply grease to the groove, put back the spindle nut, tighten it to pull out the spindle to spread the grease and then push it in again to treat the spline further.

Right side ready for the removal. Looking forward to the left side.....

At this point, I had to stop working because in the morning, I twisted my left side back a little and it got worse and worse to the point that I can no longer sit down on the chair without fighting against the enormous pain….

Even getting in and out of the car was a big challenge so based on my previous experience with back injury, decided to take rest before getting to the sage I can’t even walk.

Today, still in pain but I can at least sit down on the chair writing this blog so good improvement.
Hope to be able to bend my body further from tomorrow....

    Hi, solidol.
    It's the combination of OTC 7394 + 6574-1.
However, I think you can get away without the triangle plate 6574-1 and just use 7394 although I bought the plate to be on the safe side.

If you don't need the striking wrench, then just get the OTC 6574.
6574 is basically the same as my setup 7394 + 6574-1 but without the striking wrench.
If you need the striking wrench, being as OTC, you can get most of the missing parts later if you need it.

Thank you for the kind word, nobby.
Starting to be able to work on the car at full speed again.
It was good excuse to do some R&D work while out of movement and achieved a lot.

    Hi Kaz,

Thanks for sharing. I think I will go with 6574 since I can always use impact socket + breaker bar to turn it. But using triangle plate I like just to have puller arms setup at better angle.

    ** hope you feel better
