A/C CCU Board service – how not to… 03

Rate this Entry

Because of the huge drilled hole diameter compared to the actual cap lead thin diameter, worried about the soldering crack over years so not ideal and not beautiful but used extra soldering without applying too much heat to the new cap.

(2nd photo shows C32 on purposely bent, away from the motor driver IC so please keep it this way.)

Not beautiful soldering but as mentioned above, I had to re-create the missing connection so bent the lead and soldered it to the survived pads/tracks.

At the end, used 8 hard wire, 6 jumper and so many soldering bridges with other methods to repair the damages….

Quick bench check and happy with the result so applied conformal coating.

The moment of truth.
Self Diag test and no error reported. Good.

Function & Operation check but one must use hand, face, leg to confirm the actual air flow at each setting.

Happy to report that the board passed all of the scenarios testing.
I also paid extra attention to the air mix control and MODE operation.

Normally, I don’t carry out the test driving session (I used to but no longer required) after the CCU board service but the damages were so severe with this board that decided to apply thermal shock and vibration through 30min test driving session with heat soak by heater gun.

Happy with the result and ready to be returned to the owner.

Thank you for using my service and hope you can enjoy genuine climate control on your NSX.
