A/C CCU Board service 01

Started working on another CCU board last month but had to give priority for the last board that I covered in my blog last week as the owner wanted to have it back urgently.

Already working on another NSX but decided getting back to this board as it's already February…..

The extent of leaked acid was really serious so I was somewhat prepared but still, I encountered big issue.
For the first time, I had to quit the cleaning process half way as my fingers were just too painful.

Normally, I can scrape off the contaminated area without much trouble but on this one, it was like dissolved copper hardened again due to acid/liquid vaporised or something.
The dark green contaminated area were actually fairly solid dead layer that can only be removed by some force.
You can't use something electrical as it may cause static shock to the big IC so only realistic way is to use your own finger and keep scraping off while your body/wrist were earthed.

The only fortunate thing was that the majority of terminals at the green connector were connected to the circuit track at the back side of the board that I didn’t have to remove it for repairing/cleaning purpose.

Keep cleaning…..
My fingers…..

Started the re-building process…..
For the first time I had to use extra parts around C16 to repair the damage. Never happened before…..

So many things to be re-built.
