While the leakage from the capacitors were minimum, there was suspicious leakage marking near the CD changer port. Couldn’t find where they came from….
Removed them and coated for now.

Started repairing the burnt ACC line but not ideal when you are forced to run the power line parallel to another one. I know how much power line noise were generated around the NSX so the Alpine and Bose engineers must have spent ages for noise protection…..

As my standard procedure, contact cleaner used for cleaning the volume control unit.

Not sure what these white bits are but some sort of contamination at the cassette unit roller.
Cleaned the head at the same time.

Later, I found that someone changed the gain control of the cassette unit for no reason.
Adjusted it properly.

Tested it in CD mode for more than 4Hrs.
All four channels were tested with no issues.

The cassette mode was tested but this was when I found the gain control issue on the cassette module only between the channels.
Fixed it and then tested the unit for 30min.

Kept the unit running in radio mode overnight so it went through hours of testing in this mode.
No issues and I’m glad I managed to refurbish the unit.
Quite worried at the beginning as I have no idea on what kind of extra damages were done by someone who worked on the unit before.

As I didn’t like the looks of the On/Off switch, asked the owner on what he wants to do.

It should be matt finish but over the years, it was scratched and somewhat polished so the top coating looked like lots of flakes as well as shiny.

After discussing with the owner, decided to replace them with the new ones but also going to return the original ones in case the owner wants to have classic/used appearance on the buttons.

Thank you for using my services.
I hope I can recover the CCU board functions very soon although it looked in really serious condition…

This audio head unit is from the UK model so the RDS button and the logo on the cassette door were the standard from the very beginning of NSX.
I haven’t checked everything but it’s the same for other European country models.
The parts country code is G00.
It only comes with single aerial/ANT interface so no printed aerial on the rear hatch glass.

For JDM and US market, they run different data system over FM but not included on the head unit.
Parts country code is simple as 000.
Thus, only the Honda or Acura, Bose and Dolby text on the cassette door with nothing reflecting the radio data system.
It comes with diversity system so two aerial/ANT interface on the head unit and there is a printed aerial at the top section of the rear hatch glass.

The On/Off push button, Volume control outer ring, Tuner frequency/CD selector button and Frequency adjuster outer ring are all very cheap (if bought in Japan).
Only about GBP6 before leaving Japan.
Just make sure to get the correct colour and text logo spec as there are multiple parts numbers available for the later models using silver/titanium like ones and also the CD changer became the standard equipment later so you will see 'CD' text printed on the selector push button.

Also, for early European models - [TUNE L/M/U] text with black background - for the selector push button, for some reason, Honda (or Alpine) specified (or superseded) the parts no. to the same one as the JDM/US spec so if you use the parts no. from the parts system (ending -003), it comes with [AM/FM] text instead of [L/M/U]......
-G01 is for the later model with silver background and it has text as [TUNE L/M/U CD].
-901, I haven't tried it yet but probably silver/titanium colour with [TUNE L/M/U] and without CD text.

The 1 - 8 numbered switches are part of the display module so no sold separately.
I have never tried to disassemble it apart from the orange filter so not sure whether you can replace it or not.
