Thank you to Microsoft for releasing the Windows 10 Threshold 2 (TH2).
While the automatic update and install were reasonably fine on my own custom built PC, it still managed to change some of the setup back to Windows default setting and also disabled some of the software (shown as a message stating that they are not compatible with TH2 and this was displayed after the update.....) without first warning the user.
The TH2 update got stuck at about 40% on my tablet as I use micro SDXC as VHD.
Apparently, you need to remove the SD card before upgrade but nothing mentioned about it and obviously, it won’t be an automatic update then….
Even after managed to update this tablet, the display driver got unstable and from time to time, the display just went dark for fraction of a second and came back with error message stating that it failed to re-load the driver….
This issue repeated itself several times and as there were several other stability issues, at the end, I decided to do fresh clean install of TH2 Windows 10 through DVD (had to use 'mobile' mode in developer tools in Chrome in order to download the TH2 iso file as both PCs were already running Windows 10) and now everything is fine.
It seems that always these things happen when you really need access to some of the software and thus, couldn’t write the Service Log file for the owner before returning his NSX ……
Unless I wanted to have MS Office on this tablet, there was not much point in using Windows on the touch screen enabled device and would have used Android or iOS instead.
It seems Microsoft is going to release these major updates about one or two times a year so can’t wait for the next one………
There are several nice new features with this release so I'll play with them for now......
Enough complaints so back to the service blog……
