Although some of the brake calliper parts looked to be replaced in the past, the fluid was not replaced regularly and also some of the services were not done properly that the rust managed to penetrate through several areas.
This smaller piston looked to be replaced in the past so I'll re-use it.

Bigg Red has done great job on the calliper and bracket body so not worried any more.




However, both lower slider pins at the front callipers were not in good condition so decided to replace them.




Before the final cleaning, double checking the bolt thread on each callipers and brackets.








Initially, I thought I can re-use at least one of the two 40mm piston (the 1st photo).
The other one (2nd photo) was not heavily corroded but the rust was too deep to be smoothed out so decided to replace it.

However, later during the assembly, the piston in the 1st photo felt very heavy and almost impossible to insert it into the new seal.
Therefore, decided to replace it with a new one as well and it went in smoothly.
Therefore, the original piston was deformed in the past and only being accepted if the seal was tired/worn.
Glad I always stock at least one set of full overhaul kit including the different size pistons for both the original and the later spec callipers.






As always, double check the smooth movement of the piston with just your finger.
If you can’t move them, you have a problem.
If the fluid was replaced at the right timing and the car was driven regularly, your existing pistons will be able to move freely even after many years and you should be able to re-use all of them.




As reported earlier, since we installed the new and different spec front disc, I’m going to install new front pad and return the original ones to the owner.

The owner wanted to have the ‘NSX’ logo painted in silver.
As for other owners, I always use the high temperature spec aluminium silver paint for this purpose after bleeding the brake as it needs high temperature for curing and thus, it will be erased if brake cleaner was applied before that.



Moving onto the rear.

So busy dealing with Japan at the moment but getting there…..
