A/C CCU Board service 01

Rate this Entry
Addition to the Bose AMP and Alpine Audio Head Unit, I was working on the A/C CCU board for another owner recently.

The owner bought the NSX recently and noticed that the fan speed control only operates when it was set at the max speed setting so typical CCU board failure mode.
Basically, when the fan speed is set at max, it bypass the power transistor’s base voltage duty control and simply triggers the blower high speed relay and applies battery voltage on the blower motor resulting in max speed.

Even before start removing the leaked capacitors, I knew it’s going to be difficult task when I looked at the Lot No. of the board as well as the board material and the capacitor used.
It’s from the very early lot with dark green and black caps with pink check marking.

The owner didn’t have the chance to act early enough because he only got his NSX recently and the serious damages were already done.
The leaked acid from the cap already contaminated the nearby transistor, diode arrays, pad, tracks, etc.
One of the lead of cap C32 was dissolved long time ago and already gone……

So, started the cleaning process.
So many missing tracks, joints, etc…..
