Door Window Refresh 04

Took ages cleaning the sticky tape residue but finally started the installing of the upper windshield fastener and the molding.

The car had full re-spray in the past and at the roof, it was re-sprayed without first removing the fastener and the molding so there was some ‘steps’ at the edge of paint where it meets the fastener and doesn’t look nice.

Also, the windshield itself was replaced in the past and the excessive amount of sealant was everywhere.
No wonder why someone made lots of scratch markings under the molding as mentioned in the previous post.

While installing the molding, I noticed tiny dent on the surface. When it’s new, the molding is wrapped around by the soft protection paper so couldn’t see it.
Unfortunately, I didn’t spot it before the installation so don’t think I can return it to Honda.

I was hoping that I can push the molding under the edge of windshield even with the excess sealant covering the area.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, the replaced windshield seemed to be sitting bit lower than the factory setup so the lip of the molding didn’t go far enough under the edge of the glass and simply pressing against the excess sealant.
Because of this, even the molding is held securely inside the fastener, there is tiny gap at several places between the glass and the molding.

I need to create a special tool to remove just small amount of sealant immediately under the edge of glass for the next occasion as I’m not happy with the result and also the tiny dent on the molding.

I’ll refund the molding parts cost to the owner and do this again next time.

Replacing some of the screw grommet with the new one.

Right side ready for the showering test.

In the process of adjusting the left side window.
As the regulator was replaced last time, no need to remove the window glass off the car so bit of time saving.

Once again, it’s so much easier working with the new rear sash than re-using the hardened existing one.

Hope to return this NSX very soon as another owner is bringing his NSX today or tomorrow.
