Drive Shaft OH 03

Still about half of my right palm is numbed but getting better so decided to work on the NSX Door but soon found out that it only made the situation worse and slowed down my recovery so decided to focus on the lighter tasks such as the drive shaft overhaul.

On the Left side drive shaft, one of the roller at the inboard joint showed excessive wear.
OK for now but again, next time, best to refurbish the joint at much lower mileage.

Carefully adjusted the amount of air left inside the boot by adjusting the length of the joint and the drive shaft itself to the spec and finished tightening the boot band.
In order to prevent the rust at the spline, applied grease to each end.

Each boot kit contains 1 x spindle nut and 1 x C-ring so with 4 x boot kit, you will receive 4 each for the nut and the C-ring.
However, you only need 1 x spindle nut and 1 x C-ring for one drive shaft.

Attached the required parts to each drive shaft at the outboard joint and going to return the left over to the owner by putting them in the boot kit bag and attached it to the right drive shaft.

Message to the owner;
Probably your engineers are aware of this but please remind them not to hold the drive shaft at the inboard joint or let the inboard joint facing down towards the ground.
There is nothing to hold the rollers/spider inside the joint housing at the inboard joint that you could pop out the roller and being forced to open the boot again to re-align the rollers.
Please make sure to use the new C-ring attached to each drive shaft on installation.
Please remember to remove the old C-ring left on the intermediate shaft at the right side on your NSX.

So, something started like this is now turned into this fresh looking parts.

Thank you for using my service.

Regards,
Kaz

    Hi Kaz, great stuff.
Presumably you have a fixed charge for this thurough service/overhaul, if so can you please say how much you charge and your turn around time??
    Cheers,

    Hi, all.
Thank you for the kind comment for both my service and my hand.
Started to work on the car again from yesterday with one dead nail….

Hi, Clive. I’ll email you the cost as it depends on whether I can re-use all of the existing parts or not.
Please note that I don’t do this as a regular service so there is no specific turnaround time.
Normally, I don’t have enough spare time while working on other NSX so depending on the status of other projects, I may or may not be able to accept the request.

On this occasion, the owner was having other big services on his NSX so it was off the road for ages and thus, I could refurbish the drive shaft at my convenient schedule.

If you need it very soon, I think NSXGB is selling his Surtrack Left side MT spec drive shaft at the moment.
On NSX Prime, there was a thread about the Insane Shafts. Some of the NSX Prime members got them.
