Cabin Cleaning

Rate this Entry
Have been very busy working on electronics parts, servicing NSX for owners and carrying out MOT for my NSX and MX-5 so wanted to change the rhythm to relax a bit.

Good opportunity to massage the leather seat.

I don’t know it’s effective or even the right thing to do so please use this information at your own risk as I don’t know what kind of chemical was applied in the past on your seat, cabin parts, etc and it could react with the one I use.
For me, it worked well for many cars for more than 30 years so I’ll just keep using the same method.

It won’t work on the coated 'leather-like' material that is used on the dashboard, part of door card, etc but you don’t want to have too much shiny finish considering the reflection into the windshield so I don’t apply it on these areas.

Nothing special and just ordinary moisturiser like Nivea, Dove, etc.
My favourite one at the moment.

I prefer using my bare hand when applying it so to be on the safe side, always hoover the cabin first in case any sharp debris were trapped in the seam.
If you are really serious, you can take the seat out but I need to do it some point later this year any way to deal with the NSX-R red carpet or when replacing the leaky a/c evaporator so just general cleaning this time.

Even after 21years with 150K miles, my original seat leather looks healthy so I must be doing something right.
Obviously, there are some minor scuff marking but nothing serious.

The worst condition is at the shift knob but still, nothing eyesore.

Keep applying it, leave it overnight and depending on what you used, wipe off any excess.

With this nourishing lotion, I don’t need to wipe off anything as it just absorbed quickly into the leather.
