Removed rocker shaft and arms to clean the LMA pocket. You don’t want to leave this old black eng oil in there.

Checked the head bolt torque and none of them moved. Good as this engine is using the metal gasket.

Normally, I only use the smelly assembly lube on certain area but with so much moisture in the air and considering the weather forecast, decided to use it at even wider areas.
No photos I’m afraid as I don’t want to transfer this smell on my camera.
Even after washing my hands 10 times and taking shower, my finger still smells……

One rocker arm set at a time as you must place it back in its original position.
Removed the small pistons from each rocker arms, cleaned, lube, re-assembly and move to the next set. Each set has three rocker arms and you have 6 set per bank so time consuming tasks.
I only managed to finish the Front bank for the day.

2nd gen VS latest spec LMA. Much better than the tired old one.

New LMA installed, rocker arms and shafts back in place.

In the middle of cleaning the front bank but I’m going to leave the old oil film at the cam journal for now for protection.
Will apply assembly lube after cleaning the old film just before the installation of the cam shaft.

Re-used the sealing bolt for the front bank. I don’t think I can re-use the heavily rusted ones at the rear bank.

Moving onto the rear bank today….
Another smelly fingers for the day…..
