Quite often, I receive requests and questions from not only the NSX owners but also from Honda dealers, tuning places, etc including the ones outside of UK.
Nice to be recognised.




While carrying out the Eng Refresh, being requested to service 3 x Bose AMP from one company.




I normally don’t service the already burnt circuit board from the reliability point of view so although it was notified in advance, the company sent in the 3 AMPs including the burnt one.

Not only it cracked the FET and burnt the heatsink part of the circuit board but also it took out several surface mounted chip and nearby tracks.

Although I could repair them, there is high chance that some of the parts/IC/tracks were partially damaged but not enough to show any issues at this stage.
Eventually, new issues may show up in few days, months or years.
I came to a conclusion that it’s not worth repairing it and instead, best to replace it with known good used one or a new one.


A while ago, one of the member here kindly contacted the company in Germany that used to sell Bose AMP through their website.
I was informed that they were happy for me to contact them in English through email so sent it the other day but so far, no reply…..
I may need another German language support from the member again…..


So, just going to refurbish 2 x AMP.



Looking at the colour of the board and revision no., it looked as if these AMPs were from mixture of different year models.




All aluminium electrolytic caps removed and tracks inspected.
The pre-inspection showed no major damages to the circuit board so should be easy tasks.




Uprated caps installed, voltage input/output including gain control checked, conformal coating applied, thermal transfer compound applied, hot melt glue applied and in the process of final bench testing to drive the AMP at least 2Hrs each.


Hope to return them next week.
