Annual Service, Health Check, Brake OH 08

Managed to polish out the lines and rust to this level. Before and after.

They can be re-used this time and fortunately, the rust didn't get inside the caliper bore.
Will apply special treatment to both sides in order to prevent rust going any further.
Some of the pistons showed rust inside the groove for the dust boot. Next time when carrying out the caliper OH, may need replacing them.

The rear pistons.

There was no rust on the piston wall but quite clear line marking there.
Smoothed out them and also polished out the rust at the area exposed to the outside world. Photo was taken after that.

However, RL (Rear Left) side showed fair amount of rust inside the dust boot groove so smoothed them out.
Double check them next time.

At RR side, the bleeder plug felt really heavy.
The rust managed to penetrate through the bleeder thread on the caliper body.

Will clean it by re-threading it and check for any further corrosion.

When the gold caliper paint faded, send them to Bigg Red and have them chemical treated next time.
Bleeder plug will be replaced on all four calipers so not a problem.

Will carry on servicing the caliper but at the same time, will service EPS controller for another owner to make some changes in the rhythm for efficiency purpose.

Hi Kaz, I think I've seen you refer to Bigg Red before, who or what is Bigg Red?

    Hi, Tony.
Please refer to the following link for the introduction and also some of the examples.

It's a company name offering the brake caliper service including the polymer coating.

Please note that a while ago, they had problem coating the NSX caliper/bracket on several occasions so at that time, they no longer wanted to do the service for NSXCB but since then, I know a few owners managed to have their caiper/bracket polymer coated so looks like they are happy to do it again.

Although it will take some time, worth the try as they clean the caliper thoroughly as well as chemical treated for preventing future corrosion.
