Annual Service, Health Check, iPod adaptor, etc 01

Rate this Entry
Started to work on another NSX from mid this week.
The service menu is to carry out Health Check in place of Annual Service, installation of iPod adaptor USA Spec PA11-HON together with audio head unit OH, etc.

I don't see the point of following the standard annual service menu that is designed for the modern cars and for all sorts of Honda models considering the classic status and usage of NSX.

Although I worked on this NSX in the past, this is the first time meeting the new owner so as my standard procedure for the Health Check, spent some time with the owner to understand his driving style and environment.

Initial inspection before carrying out the test driving session before start of the service.
Several points for the owner.

Tyre pressure adjusted as OEM spec F:33, R:40 psi.
All four tyres about 2 – 3 years old.

Please keep eye on the Rear brake pad especially the inner side. Outer side is already fairly worn so the inner side is even further worn out.

Fluid level fine.

Despite the battery being 011HE spec, there was no green indicator on the check window at the battery body. Same as long time ago when I last saw this NSX. No issues cranking the engine.

Will check the cranking speed during the compression check.
The battery was replaced by the owner in the past and the way the GND terminal was installed was not the same as my standard procedure so clearly, someone touched it in the past.

From the cockpit during the test driving session.

Wind noise from upper section of the driver door glass. The waetherstrip was replaced in the past but still the same issue and already knew it was something to do with the glass alignment.
As the window goes up and down fairly fast, not much point in spending hours just for adjusting it at this stage.

Rattling noise from time to time behind the centre console/centre vent area when A/C On.
Possibly something such as aftermarket security wires, ICE, etc obstructing the motor operation.
Will take a look as I need to take the audio head unit out of the car any way.

Typical DBW engine feeling with some delay in response.

Very solid and hard brake pedal feeling but stopping efficiency was not great.
Caliper already overhauled in the past so very likely to be lost the pad material on the disc.
Fairly normal with OEM pad using regular gentle and long braking period.

Sparrow like chirping noise on several occasions from around passenger dashboard area.
Possibly from the loose glove box lid allowing the lock device to rattle.
Not easy to confirm while driving on alone.

TW just touching upper side of the first marker below the horizontal line.
Voltage showing about 14.2 – 14.3V at idle rpm.
PO at 1.9 (x100kPa) at idle rpm.
