Parts arrival

Some of the parts that I ordered from Japan just arrived.
Contacted the owners and as some of the information below may support
other owners when ordering the same parts, decided to post them here.

First of all, Honda Parts Japan are very likely to increase the parts price again
from 01/Jul.
For last several years, it was always done on 01/Jan and 01/Jul.

Some of the OEM brake pistons are on back order for many months.
I checked both Japan and US Acura and it was the same.
Also the aftermarket ones from Bigg Red, Budweg, Rock Auto are either
out of stock, no longer available or never manufactured so if you are thinking of
overhauling your brake caliper, please plan well in advance.

The windshield upper molding.

I always placed the order together with the upper fastener as a set so
when the owner told me that he just wanted the molding only
(the black gloss finish strip that can get dull/grey over the years), I was not sure
which parts no. is for the molding.

As they are not that expensive and I’ll be using them any way, just ordered them
as a set to confirm which one is which.

The gloss black finish one that is inserted into the parts glued to the edge of the
roof panel with butyl tape is this one. 73151-SL0-023

As always, it comes in a long triangle box.
The paper next to it is A4 size so you can get the idea on how long it is.

The head light beam adjuster.

In the past, I had to return all of them as there was a faulty batch
at the manufacture.
I spoke with KSP Engineering on this and they had to send back 100s of them as
they used to stock them regularly due to really strict Japanese MOT and it was
one of the most commonly replaced item on our NSX.

I replaced mine in the past for the same reason, the rattling headlight unit.

The new batch was delivered pre-assembled.
Due to so many of them being sent back to the manufacture, they are now testing
each parts before placing it inside the bag???

Any way, based on my experience, contacted the owner to allow me opening the
package in order to test it before sending it to him.

The flat portion of the swivel bolt is sandwiched by the two identical plastic holders.
You can disassemble them by sliding them side way.

You need to know how to test it but if you imagine how they are installed,
you will know how to do it.

Tested the adjuster mechanism and compared to the failed batch,
what a difference.
Much smoother and it actually allows the owner to adjust the beam angle.
With the failed batch, you can’t adjust it and quite often,
it will even break while testing it.

Happy with it so re-sealed the bag.

By the way, if you regularly work on the head light adjuster area,
you may want to order the same part using the different part no. assigned for
the later models.

The core parts are exactly the same but inside the bag, there are extra parts
that may become handy for rebuilding another set.
It’ll cost just a bit extra compared to the one in the photo so unless you need the
extra bits, not much point in ordering it as you are very likely not going to use them
for many years.

02+ Tail light centre assy

Originally, I received mixed info about whether the H badge is already on
the assy or not.

At the time of order, I was told I need to order the H badge separately and as the
owner wanted the 02+ NSX-R big badge, ordered it as well.

Received the package and guess what, the H badge was already there......

It’s not the end of the world because I was told it’s using double sided tape
and this silver H badge has so many opening that it can be easily removed
once warmed up using the heater gun and with the help of fishing line or dental floss.

Also, one of my friend in Japan told me that he just wanted the NSX-R badge
and just keep using his existing tail light centre assy.
He found out that you can actually stick the NSX-R big badge on top of the
existing silver H one.

I didn’t want to open the NSX-R badge package so just tried it
while keeping the parts inside the bag and surprise, surprise,
the outer dimension of the silver H badge is exactly the same as the NSX-R one.

I’ll just ask the owner to take a look at it first without removing the silver H badge
at this stage and then decide what to do as I’m hoping to work on his NSX
in the future.

Obviously, it’s the wrong information that I got so I’ll do it at free of charge
if the owner wants to remove the silver H badge.

The coolant header tank cap is also here but nothing special and
not NSX specific so no photo.

Will contact each owners separately once I have calculated each share of
delivery charge/tax/fee and we can discuss about the delivery method within UK.
