Today at Atelier Kaz - ex-Honda R&D, F1, Indy/CART engineer

My thoughts are with everyone in Japan

I have been helping my families and friends all day by relaying all sorts of messages in order to share the communication from one person to the others.

The land line and mobile phone network were too busy that it was impossible to get through to my families and friends through these method.

However, thanks to the power of internet.

The email, Skype, twitter, etc were working so once I managed to talk or receive any emails from families and friends, I passed on to others to share the same information and forwarded their contact details and so on.

So far, my families and friends were fine as they are based in Tokyo or nearby.

Most of the tall buildings especially the new ones have 10's of water tanks or similar devices to compensate the earthquake energy (like the J-damper on F1 car last year).

The structural damages were bad but at least part of the buildings survived.

However, the Tsunami and the Fire after the earthquake are the most scary things.

Even with the automated Tsunami warning system, there was only a short period to escape for those at the north east part of Japan.

Heart breaking to see the situation there.

Unfortunately, my friends at Honda R&D Tochigi Centre were not so lucky.

They were hit very hard due to its location.

One of the engineer lost his life due to wall coming down over him.

Lots of damages to many R&D buildings as well.

Thank you for those on NSXCB who sent me very kind messages through email, SMS, etc.

If you need any assistance in reaching your friend/relatives in Japan, please let me know as I would like to help you.

Regards,
Kaz

It's good to hear your family are OK.

After the initial 'sensational' pictures from the area the news is now covering the human suffering which is just heart breaking.

    Hi, all.

Thank you for all the kind messages.

I received a lot of them through email, SMS, PM, etc and of course, these comments though the Blog.

I initially thought about heading back to Japan to help others but after discussing the situation with several people, decided to stay and support Japan from here.

While we need immediate support for the people being affected by this disaster, we also need to look for the future.

It is important for those of us who were not directly affected by this to carry on what we were doing to support not only the people and the communication link but also the current and future economy.

I’ll carry on with my business together with supporting UK NSX community so that I can place orders for the parts to Japan.

It’s only a tiny support but it’s one of the way to invest for the future.

Once again, thank you for all of you who sent me the message.

I won’t be able to reply back to each of you as I’m already struggling to cope with the amount of communication from Japan so please accept my gratitude through this comment.

Once again, thank you for everything.

    Regards,
    Kaz

我々の祈り、日本に届きますように。 (translated in english as "May our prayers reach the people in Japan"). This will be on the Sauber F1 cars and are sentiments we all share.

I have enormously impressed by the way the Japanese people have handled this astonishing, awful crisis.

I don't think there is another country on earth which would have reacted with such calm, organised dignity.
