Eng Refresh 05

Rate this Entry

Once the Eng is out, first thing is to check the state of the engine.

Further investigation revealed that the oil leakage was even more severe
than originally thought.
With the state of nearby coolant hoses, etc, already agreed with the
owner to replace all of the nearby coolant hoses, cramps, etc.

Also, EACV and the fast idle valve will be removed due to significant amount of
oil mist observed inside the TH body.
It was also showing some misfire like symptom with idle rpm occasionally dipping.

Nothing new here.

Pretty much the same on most of the NSX engines with just standard service
in the past.

Just oil every where and usual seepage from the black cam cap disc,
VTEC spool valve and the oil press sender unit.

At the front bank, the seeped oil always lands on the front Eng mount.

The valve cover gasket at the front bank also looked to be not installed properly
as there was trace of oil behind the TB back plate.
The black bits are the melted potting from the CRK/CYL sensor.

The oil cooler looked to be not too bad from this angle.

I hope I can loosen this TB tension adjuster bolt…..
