EPS Controller Service 02

Rate this Entry

I was not expecting any deliveries from US until mid/Apr so
when I found the ‘While you were away’ card at the door step on Friday,
couldn’t figure out what kind of parcel could be.

Turned out, it was the high current capacity spec relays.

Collected them from the local depot and considering the weather forecast and
other projects, decided to finish the EPS service over the weekend.

The relay removed from the board on the left and the high current spec one
on the right.
As you can see, extra terminals and hence, the needs for drilling the extra holes.

First, strip off the coating to expose enough pad followed by soldering coating
on both side of the circuit board.
This is required as there will be no copper coated through-hole available at the
newly drilled section.

New relays installed, checked the multiple FETs, power circuit and happy with the result.
Quick coating around the relay terminals for protection.

Boxed the unit carefully and ready to be returned to the owner.

The unit is over 2kg so using the Special Delivery with
increased compensation up to GBP2,500 will cost about GBP30.
Expensive but can’t risk anything considering the cost of new unit.

Done.
