Spent hours just for cleaning the outside of the engine.

I don’t want to remove the valve covers without cleaning the
surrounding area first so this process is a must regardless of
whether I’m taking the engine out of the bay or not.

As always, there were lots and lots of leaves inside the V-bank area
around the INJ port.

The front sub frame cross beam is now clean.

The area behind the crank pulley was very dirty with the oil from
the front valve cover and addition to this, there were lots of melted
potting from the CRK/CYL sensor.
Will clean the area further once the TB lower cover was removed.

Having said this, looking at the state of some of the bolts at the
TB lower cover, I think I am going to have difficult time removing
them.....

Also, there was quite serious dent at the base of the oil pan/sump so
we are going to replace it. Glad we made this decision as the side of
the pan was already very rusty.

So much liquid gasket being used all around the TB covers.....
For this particular area, this was one of the reason why I saw strange
build up of dust/oil like debris.
It’s going to take a while removing all these residue from everywhere.....

Some of the before/after comparison photos.

I'll need to carry out further cleaning process around the rear bank VTEC spool valve
as the dirt just didn't want to come off even using the high pressure sprayer with
the cleaning solution.

Time to open the engine.
Can’t wait to see the state of the internal parts........

More to follow later.
