Audio Head Unit 01, Bose Speaker AMP Service 02

Rate this Entry

Based on the state of the Bose AMP, we decided to service the
audio head unit as well while the centre console was out of the way.

Alpine modified the internal circuit board design several times and
it also depends on the country spec.

Interesting modification from the factory.
Two tracks being cut.

The leakages were not big enough to cause serious issues like
I saw on many other units.

Some of the new capacitors installed this time.

As my standard procedure, ACC line has been strengthened in case
the owner decides to install the iPod adaptor in the future.

The treble control knob showed small crack so applied
anti-vibration adhesive.
Hope it’s ABS plastic and not PP material.

Bench testing using the correct connector.

Tested with the cassette tape (yes, I still keep some just for this purpose),
FM radio with short aerial and CD mode using iPod adaptor.

After installing the new capacitors, applied conformal coating,
hot melt glue and thermal compound on the AMPs.

About to install them back in the speaker boxes.
Used these AMPs with the actual Bose speakers for testing the
audio head unit above.

I have to service one more AMP at the right side door but
after working on the head unit and AMP for many hours,
I have a sore eye so decided to work on the mechanical side instead.
