Eng Refresh, Health Check, etc 42

Doing another catch up updating the blog….

And then, the compression check after the Eng Refresh.

When this NSX arrived at my place, the TB showed wrong timing at the rear bank with rear exh cam jumped a tooth.

Still, the compression data was very good.

However, even before opening the engine, the first thing I mentioned to the owner was that surprised it managed to pass the emission test as I was able to hear the faint misfire.
It was backed up by all three rear bank spark plugs showing build-up of carbon.

Even with the new spark plug, it still managed to stain the white insulator body at the centre terminal before correcting the wrong timing and also the poor valve clearance adjustment.

Now that it went through the Eng Refresh with correct timing and carefully adjusted valve clearance, I already had good feeling even before taking the compression check.

There are no more misfire and the idle rpm was very smooth with very quiet valve train sound.

Already sent the full compression data to the owner but they were very stable and good data.

Also, no more build-up of carbon on the plug.

Didn't want spending too much time on removing that coating from these IG coil covers but since the original lower height spec is no longer available,
wanted to restore to the level that won't cause severe eyesore.

The IG coil cover spacer.

Very important in minimising the cause of rusty IG coils.

New OEM air cleaner element.

The coolant tank fixed in specific way and the air box closed, ready for checking the base idle rpm.
