Crank Pulley

Started to work on another NSX from this week.
It’s quite close to the final production year model so I hope everything goes smoothly....

The main service menu is to refurbish the drive shafts, replace the crank pulley, TH butterfly cleaning, etc.

Due to the recent strange weather, it was too wet and windy so not much point in carrying out the pre-service test driving session.
Decided to start the service immediately.

I was hoping to wash at least the rear wheel arch section but the weather was not great and I didn’t want to wash another NSX in the rain so many times within the short period….

So, started with the crank pulley.

Pulley bolt came off without any trouble so it was easy swap.

I think we are going to struggle to remove some of the TB cover bolts as they are already corroded heavily and lost the HEX shape.

These bolts should have been replaced during the last TB service….

The cable for the oil pressure warning sensor at the oil cooler was not routed or held properly.

The cable bracket that should have been installed at one of the TB cover bolt was missing. Probably someone forgot to install it at the last TB service.

The cable itself is not going anywhere and won't touch the drive shaft or nearby suspension parts so please have this fixed when replacing the coolant hoses at the oil cooler or at the next TB service.

This NSX is advanced LEV model so it has secondary air pump system which limits the available working space inside/around the engine bay.

You need to remove additional parts even for just accessing the ACG tensioner.

The existing pulley was fine but as mentioned many times, it is a MUST item to be replaced at the time of every TB service regardless of the mileage in my opinion.

This is even more important on UK NSX registered after July 1998 because that’s when Honda introduced the new Euro service schedule and extended the TB service interval to every 8yrs or 72K miles whichever comes first.

The pulley bolt was properly cleaned/oiled to support the future removal and torqued to the spec.

The ACG and A/C belt. Already cracking but not too bad.

These are the original belts from the factory and not replaced in the past.
They still have –A01 parts no. on them that is no longer available in UK or Japan.

Recently, I found out that –A01 is still available in US but it is assembled in US and not the same one in UK or Japan.

Please replace them at the next TB service or at earlier stage.
