Kept the TH at WOT and disabled the INJ by disconnecting the connector to the INJ resistor unit.

Later models have different INJ spec so there is no INJ resistor unit and just a simple connector with metal bar inside to create short circuit.

  2. TH Butterfly Cleaning, TH Cable adjust

    by , 28-06-2011 at 11:37 PM (Today at Atelier Kaz - ex-Honda R&D, F1, Indy/CART engineer)

Before warming up the engine for the compression check, decided to clean the TH butterfly as it requires the engine to be cold.

As in the previous post, the TH body was full of black gunk and also the idle rpm was not stable.

Sprayed the TH cleaner several times and then fired up the engine to warm it up.

At the end, decided to stop before carrying out the compression check as I’m bit too old dealing with the hot engine inside the sauna.

    Time for the re-assembly process.

From here, it's just a matter of putting everything back in place with the consideration for the sequence so not much photos, I'm afraid.

Oil level gauge and A/C idler pulley are installed and the Front/Rear mid TB covers are now back in place.

Again and again and again, check the timing of each cam shafts against the crank shaft and the tension of TB.

There is not enough room to take the photo showing the cam alignment against the marker punched on the plate cover so decided to take the one showing the alignment at the backside.

On early model NSX, when TB is under tension, you may find ...
