As reported earlier, the coolant was leaking from the hose joint of the thermostat cover.
And found the reason.
The corrosion was severe that it managed to corrode all the way across the fitting surface that it allowed the coolant to seep out under pressure.






The corrosion at other pipe fittings were also very serious.
Fortunately, it didn’t dissolve the pipe edge completely that I don’t need to replace the thermostat cover or the complex shape pipe core.



Still, taking long time cleaning them……
Also, the owner was very lucky because some of the coolant hoses were already dead and just so soft that they could have burst at any time.



As mentioned many times on here, if you mainly drive on the street, please start looking into your coolant system refresh after 10 years old.
It heavily depends on the driving condition and environment but I don’t recommend running the engine after 15 years without any refresh service carried out on the coolant hoses and on top of this, the OEM radiator is a consumable just like the eng oil filter.

If you take your NSX on track, the condition is much severe so you should consider the refresh at much earlier stage.
Just like the crank pulley, if you drive your NSX under different condition from how the manufacture tested it, you should react at much earlier stage.
Again, I don’t believe in the idea of 'if it's not broken, don't fix it' so some of you won't agree with my approach but I would rather have my engine protected than overheating the engine or hitting the valve.





Was trying to show the amount of blowby oil mist trapped at the base of VVIS chamber but couldn’t take good photo.
VVIS butterfly screws were still in place so that was a good news.

As seen on many NSX, noticeable amount of oil sitting there.
At high rpm region, you may see white smoke from your exhaust and it could be this oil entering the cyl when VVIS is open.

I just prefer washing the entire intake chamber at the time of Eng Refresh if there are already significant amount of oil in there.







Wow, what a dirty TH body it is….
Probably never washed in the past…..
Ideally, best to wash the EACV and FIAV but will leave them for the Eng Refresh time.





Lots of oxidation around the sensor body.
Not sure where the moisture came from through…..
I just hope it doesn't chew inside the sensor housing causing the sensor failure.......




Just keep cleaning the corroded pipe and replace the hoses…..




Although I already made the donation, I don’t think I can attend the Supercar Siege this weekend….

With the delay caused by my injury and this heavy corrosion plus the R&D in the back ground, just no time…..

I can’t even work on my NSX for the A/C system although I have no idea on the delivery schedule for my new compressor……

Just keep working......
