Functional and repair information
.. continuation of Radio Head Unit - Repair III No display - otherwise fully functional Observed on: 1 USDM Radio Fixed by: PCB repair, parts replacement State: Fully understood A fully working radio with a non-working display. The display was confirmed OK by installing it into a working JDM radio. An investigation showed heavy leakage by capacitor E818: IC 802 is providing 9 V to the VFD heater circuit ...

Introduction Issues with the radio head unit is a common fault, affecting nearly all NSX depending on age and climate zone. Capacitor replacement should be the first step to perform, followed by further analysis and repair. Diagnostic The following error cases and ways of repairing have been identified so far. Almost all of them are caused by capacitor leakage but not exclusively since the radios suffer from normal wear and tear similar to other consumer audio electronics. ...

Introduction Failure of the Climate Control Unit (CCU) is a common fault, affecting nearly any NSX. In almost any case, capacitor replacement and track repair will fix all issues. Depending on the state of the PCB, further damage to other components can happen, though. Diagnostic - Transistor Issues The following error cases and ways of repairing have been identified so far. These faults can be caused by major acid leakage affecting nearby transistors. ...

Introduction The NSX Gauge Cluster provides a large number of functions and displays, resulting in roughly 60 pins across two green connectors. Testing all of them manually is a error-prone task, requires special equipment and takes a lot of time. To speed things up, it helps to have a tester that provides all of these functions in a compact way and utilizing the original connectors. Requirements A simple user interface. Usage of the original connectors. Adaptable for multiple ...

Introduction The Gauge Cluster suffers from ageing capacitors as many ECUs in the NSX. Leaking capacitors at the gauge cluster is a serious issue. Acid near the warning indicator circuit causes shorts and potentially lead to a fire. Same as with the other capacitor issues, a replacement should be considered before the unit fails. Diagnostic First signs are a non-accurate speed indication or a permanently lit brake light warning even though bulbs and wiring are OK. ...
