As the TB Rear cover was missing the rubber seal, lots of oil/debris were observed around the area.

Due to the damage to the Front valve cover seal, some sort of chemical managed to get inside the TB area and changed the colour of almost half of the TB Front cover.

It will be cleaned thoroughly during the process.

Now I understood why there were so much oil around the engine head as well as some of the spark plug body.

Almost all of the fixing nuts for the valve covers were not tight enough especially the ones under the IGN Coil covers.

    They were just finger tight.

Probably, the valve cover gaskets, seals and the round disc seals under the nuts were not replaced during the last TB service and thus, couldn’t get proper ...

    Just keep removing the parts….

Noticed that during the last TB service, some of the bolts for the TB mid covers were not placed back and missing.

Not the first time to see this and quite common human error, I’m afraid.

Due to the valve cover gasket not replaced or not installed properly during the last TB service, there were lots of oil seepage behind the crank pulley. ...

At #1 & 2 spark plug, there were noticeable amount of engine oil around the HEX bolt section.

During the Health Check last year, I also noticed significant amount of engine oil seepage at the rear bank exhaust bank.

Based on these, it looked like the valve cover gasket, spark plug hole seals, etc were not replaced during the last TB service.

  5. TB/WP/Valve 01 - Prep and compression

After the initial inspection, I noticed that someone worked on this NSX in the past.

Last year, when I spoke with the owner, we couldn’t find some of the service history record at the time of Health Check but we were quite sure that the car had TB service in the past.

This was backed up by the white liquid gasket seen around the valve cover and later I found it was quite easy to loosen the bolt at the crank shaft pulley.
