"Therefore, if you compare the NSX-T to the later coupe models, yes, the stiffness is lower but similar to the earlier coupe ones"

Surely in bending the coupe is way stiffer?

Nice work Kaz, drive shaft overhaul is such a time consuming process.
    Hope your feeling better.

    Hi, Peter.

If you open any of my Blog, you will see the link to my ‘NSX Technical and Service Information Index’ thread at the right side of the Blog window.

Please visit the thread and under the ‘Brake’ section, you will find several information regarding the ‘ABS Upgrade’.

For UK NSX, I think the upgraded ABS was only introduced late 99.

In the same ‘Brake’ section, you will find ‘ABS History’.

In there, you will see some photos and the 3rd stage one is the so called ‘upgraded ABS’.

Most of the ABS issue happens with the ‘Original version’.

    Hope this will help.

    Regards,
    Kaz

    Kaz,
Thanks as always for your fascinating insights. When you talk about original and upgraded ABS, how can I tell if my car has upgraded ABS?
Sorry if the answer is already somewhere on the forum. I looked but didn't find it.

That's one of the reason why I can't spend more time on this NSX especially during the Race week...

    Hi, britlude.
Good to hear from you again and thank you for the suggestion.

I knew this company through ebay but didn’t pay much attention to them as they seemed to be not familiar with NSX brake.

They stated their front and rear calliper service parts are suitable for all models from 91 onwards but that’s wrong as the piston size on both front and rear was changed in late 90’s.

In fact, there are lots of manufactures making similar mistake for the brake related parts such as disc/rotor, brake lines, etc claiming that they are all compatible for all models from 91 onwards.

Having said this, I didn’t know they were offering several different finishes on their refurbishment service for the callipers.

Worth a call in the future.

    Hi, greenberet.
Good to hear from you again and as always, very informative posts on NSX Prime.

    Thank you for the link.

I knew a company in Holland called Budweg but again, I didn’t pay much attention to them as they were also making the same mistake as ‘Bigg Red’ described in the reply to the member ‘britlude’ below.

I knew them through MX5 owners and I knew at least one owner here used their parts but had some trouble during the installation.

Not sure whether it was the parts issue, installation method or something else….

As they sell re-manufactured calliper for NSX, may be they can do something for the NSX owners based in Europe???

Not sure about the claim on the powder coating on the calliper especially for the heat generated by the performance of production car level.

As well as the heat dissipation from the calliper surface, the anti-heat radiation characteristic will play a certain factor.

I’ll be more worried if my calliper, disc, pad are getting so hot than the painting method…

Any way, thank you for pointing me out the potential concern.

    Hi, NSXGB.

    Nothing special.

Several different size brushes, garden sprayer, lots-and-lots of time and patience…

For the chemical, you can use ‘Engine Clean’ from Meguiar’s or any similar products that are safe on the rubber hose and plastic.

I think Autoglym and other manufactures have similar products.

Instead of using the original container, I just pour it into the garden sprayer because it is easier to aim the chemical in the limited space.

Just cover the ACG, Fuse box, etc and use low pressure water to rinse it off.

In Japan, I used to use household detergent designed for laminated wooden floor with great success on cleaning the engine bay.

I think in US, there are lots of owners using a product from Simple Green.

Probably, the biggest effect is coming from the cleaning of both valve covers and TB front/rear covers while they were off the engine during the TB service.

I actually ‘wash’ these parts inside the cleaning tank and not just a simple ‘wipe’.

Especially, you will be very satisfied once you have washed the valve covers because they occupy quite big surface area within the engine bay and both black and red valve covers will stand out once washed and dressed.

For the final stage, I just use Meguiar’s Engine Dressing simply because I ran out of my stock that I brought from Japan and that’s what I use on my engine bay these days.

Seems to be good and last long time even on my NSX with engine bay cover removed.

I'm quite sure there are lots of other similar products available but I haven't tested them yet.

    Hi, Martyn.
Good to hear from you again.

I can’t try something new on owner’s NSX before trying it on mine first or on my spare parts so not for this time.

It will be really nice if we can try something in the background as the future project.

I have spare calliper that is not going to be used so we can do anything on it.

I wanted to try soda blast method as well and in US, it seems one can buy mobile unit at very reasonable cost but probably not in UK…

The only thing is the weight of the four callipers and the brackets… Hope we can find reasonable delivery method at good price…

Will contact you once I have more time …

    Hi, gumball.

I think you are referring to Norton Way Honda in Letchworth and good to know that they may be able to cut the Monel key.

Service manager Brian is very knowledgeable on NSX and very friendly person.

Hope your NSX is back in top condition with the package that I sent to Brian the other day.
