  1. Main Relay 03

    by , 11-08-2011 at 11:15 PM (Today at Atelier Kaz - ex-Honda R&D, F1, Indy/CART engineer)

As part of my Main Relay Service, the original one will be re-soldered and returned to the owner so that it can be kept on the car as an emergency spare.

Also, it could save another owner if the main relay failed during a meeting.

The owner told me that his Main relay was already re-soldered in the past and yes indeed, it was done.

While the owner was at my place, showed him that lots of door card fixing tabs were already broken or even missing from its place.

The owner requested me to leave them as they were for the time being so not going to be repaired.

As reported in the Main Relay replacement post (http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/entry.php?322-Main-Relay-01), one of the fixing tab for the rear upper trim was already damaged and not possible to hold the retainer clip.

Initially, thought about using the anti-vibration glue to repair it but it looked to be too thick for the purpose and required more delicate solution.

He feels that the launch is sluggish and kick down (AT) is slow.

However, above certain rpm, suddenly, the power kicks in and feels very fast.

Until he brought his NSX to my place, I got so many emails and phone calls regarding this but the owner’s comment was somewhat not consistent. ...

  5. Header tank and cap

    by , 10-08-2011 at 11:28 PM (Today at Atelier Kaz - ex-Honda R&D, F1, Indy/CART engineer)

With the age and the heat, the coolant header tank will turn into dark yellow colour over the years and sooner or later, it will start to crack around the middle section where the upper and lower sections were glued together.

Also, you may see the crack around the neck area where the cap sits.

I normally recommend the owners to replace the tank once you can’t see the coolant level even with the LED light applied behind ...
