  1. How to tackle the seized alignment bolt… Drive shaft 04

by , 19-02-2011 at 01:16 PM (Today at Atelier Kaz - Private NSX Enthusiast, ex-Honda R&D engineer with F1, Indy/CART background)

Not only on NSX but also on other Honda models, the suspension bolt passing through the bush with metal collar could seize.

This is caused by the corrosion/oxidation probably from the moisture/salt in the air.

It would be best, once a year, before visiting the alignment place, if you can remove majority of the suspension bolts/nuts and apply silicone grease on the bolt body.

But not practical for some of the owners without ...
  2. Seized Alignment bolt… Drive shaft 03

So, started to disassemble the suspension area.

I always use torque wrench to loosen the bolt at the toe control arm where it connects to the rear cross beam.

I learnt this from my master when working on the NSX kept close to the seacoast in Japan.

After finishing the ABS service, started to clean the area around the modulator.

When I looked behind the reservoir, I noticed a blue object.

It was the A/C Valve cap.

Not sure how long it was sitting there but looked like for many years as the valve itself was already corroded with lots of debris around it.

Flushed the accumulator twice with fresh fluid and then moved onto four solenoids.

While pressurising the accumulator, I noticed tiny amount of bubbles coming out of the return port.

This means that at least one of the solenoid is leaking.

After flushing one solenoid, the reservoir was emptied and fresh fluid was pumped into the accumulator to replace as much fluid as possible ...

  5. Advan Neova AD-08, Compliance Pivot, without ABS

by , 16-02-2011 at 10:59 PM (Today at Atelier Kaz - Private NSX Enthusiast, ex-Honda R&D engineer with F1, Indy/CART background)

I have now covered about 4k miles on Advan Neova AD-08.

I’m using OEM 16/17in wheels so the tyre size is 215/45/16 and 245/40/17.

I have Type-S suspension and I use my own alignment setup so following comment may not be the case for you especially if you are using wider tyres.

OEM tyre width is somehow quite narrow considering the characteristic and the spec of our NSX.

Long time ago, I was ...
