  1. ABS Service 02

As reported in ‘ABS Service 01’, three out of four solenoids on this NSX were stuck closed.

Good news (or bad news, from a certain point of view) is, unlike many other ABS issues, this won’t trigger the ABS warning light and it won't disable the ABS.

However, as they are stuck closed, they won’t be able to release the brake pressure and thus, no ABS control at all on the three out of four tyres.

    Somewhat ...

  2. Test driving session, ABS, interior noise

As the road surface was damp but no water paddle, it was good for the ABS test with stuck closed solenoids.

Set the A/C at 32degC to make sure to push out any bubbles left inside the heater core after the TB/WP service and went out for the test driving session.

Before going out on the main road, activated the ABS many times while the tyre was still cold.

After reporting the blocked solenoids issue to the owner, we discussed about the possible options.

One of them is obviously to overhaul the existing one and I have done it on many units as well as translated and forwarded the method to another owner.

However, I always need to remind the owner of the original ABS on the following points.

    1. You must exercise the ABS regularly otherwise you ...

The reservoir cap seal was not positioned properly and trapped under the cap.

Possibly, some debris and moisture got inside as there were several bits held in the filter.

Fortunately, I had spare cap so replaced it.

It is important to flush the ABS system regularly especially if you have the 1st and 2nd generation ABS on your NSX.

1st and 2nd generation ones will have separated reservoir just in front of the Brake master cyl.

3rd generation (upgraded ABS) one is part of the Main brake system and sharing the master cyl reservoir.

This NSX is equipped with 2nd generation ABS so has been modified to cope with several ...
